Trail Care: TVA Native Plant Garden

As part of the National Park Service’s National Heritage Areas program, Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area conserves, interprets, promotes and develops access to the historic, cultural, natural and recreational resources of the six northwest Alabaman counties comprising its designated area. Through programs fostering public-private partnerships, MSNHA stimulates community revitalization, improves quality of life, promotes tourism, catalyzes economic development and cultivates the stewardship of our landscape.

Help us steward our community's Native Plant Garden Trail at the TVA Reservation on October 1 from 7-10AM!

TVA Muscle Shoals Trails Complex

Join us at the TVA Reservation in Muscle Shoals, AL on October 1 as we continue our work to restore the reservation's Native Plant Garden. The garden was started in the early 2000s by the Shoals Wildflower Society. Volunteers from SWS and other local groups have maintained it for two decades, but help is needed! We will prune invasives along the garden's trails as we learn about native plants from Alabama Master Gardener Margie Anderton. Wear closed toe shoes, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, and bring a pair of work gloves if you have them! We will meet at the pavilion near the garden at 7AM and finish working at 10AM.
