When Hong Kong’s basic freedoms come under attack, media tycoon Jimmy Lai finds himself in the crosshairs of the state and must choose between defending Hong Kong’s long-standing liberties, or his own freedom.Don’t miss this advanced screening of THE HONG KONGER in London. Lee Wing-Tat was born in Hong Kong. He entered University of Hong Kong in 1976. He was elected as Vice President of Student Union in 1979. 1985 he was elected as a District councillor. 1986 , he became a member of Basic Law Consultative Committee . Starting from 1989, he worked very closely with Martin Lee and Szeto Wah, two key leaders in HK democratic movement. He was firstly elected as Legislator in 1991 and served five terms up to 2012. He was the founder and core member of Demicratic Party leaded by Martin Lee. Wing Tat Lee was the third Chairman of Democratic Party. He organised and participated actively in Umbrella Movement and 2019 anti extradition law movement. He was arrested and convicted because of participating in public assembly. He left Hong Kong to UK on August 2021. He has no party affiliation now.

Catherine Li is an independent artist-activist born and raised in Hong Kong. She strives to raise awareness abroad for Hong Kong via arts and music and also advocate for the rights of the Hong Kong diaspora and the oppression of CCP within and outside UK, as a self-exiled activist on both community and international levels. She has been organising Hong Kong-themed arts exhibition, performing in different places inside and outside UK to share the struggles of Hong Kongers, meeting different policymakers and parliamentarians in UK and Europe, and participating in human rights related discussions. Her current focus is on UK Hongkongers community-building.

Baroness Helena Kennedy KC is one of Britain's most distinguished lawyers. She has spent her professional life giving voice to those who have least power within the system, championing civil liberties and promoting human rights. She has conducted many prominent cases of terrorism, official secrets and homicide. She is the founding force behind the establishment of the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights at the University of Oxford. In 1997, she was elevated to the House of Lords where she is a Labour peer. She has published a number of books including two on how the justice system is failing women, and has written and broadcasted on many issues over the years. Currently, she has taken on the role of Director to the International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute. She directs the Institute’s work upholding the rule of law and human rights globally.

Eric Kohn is director of marketing and communications at the Acton Institute. In that role, he works to bring Acton's vision of a free and virtuous society characterized by individual liberty and sustained by religious principles to a wider audience. The executive producer of Acton's podcast network, every week he hosts Acton Unwind, Acton's roundtable podcast, and is a part-time host of Acton Line, Acton's weekly interview podcast.He's an associate producer of the award-winning THE HONG KONGER: JIMMY LAI'S EXTRAORDINARY STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM, the newest documentary feature film from the Acton Institute, released in 2022.

Benedict Rogers is a writer and human rights activist specialising in Asia. He is the co-founder and Chief Executive of Hong Kong Watch, Senior Analyst for East Asia at CSW, an advisor to the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC), the Stop Uyghur Genocide Campaign and several other charities, and Deputy Chair of the UK Conservative Party Human Rights Commission. A regular contributor to national and international media, including The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Telegraph, The Spectator, Foreign Policy, The Diplomat and The Tablet, he is the author of six previous books, including Burma: A Nation at the Crossroads and Than Shwe: Unmasking Burma’s Tyrant, and his new book, The China Nexus: Thirty Years In and Around the Chinese Communist Party’s Tyranny, will be published this month. He first went to China in 1992 aged 18, to teach English for six months, and has travelled extensively throughout China many times. He lived in Hong Kong for the first five years after the handover, from 1997-2002, where he worked as a journalist. In 2017 he was denied entry to Hong Kong on the orders of Beijing, and in 2022, despite being based in London, he was threatened by the Hong Kong Police Force with imprisonment for violating Hong Kong’s National Security Law.
