Did you know that nearly 2,000 children are removed from their homes annually due to abuse and neglect in Walton, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa and Escambia counties? The Northwest Florida Guardian ad Litem Program provides a voice for these children through court-appointed, volunteer advocates. A volunteer advocates for the best interests of the child both inside and outside the courtroom. Currently, we are able to provide volunteers for 70% of these children; our goal is 100%.

The Guardian ad Litem Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity that provides funding and support for the Guardian ad Litem Program, its volunteers and the children. Our Foundation seeks to equip our volunteer advocates with the knowledge they will need to be present in the courts and as they meet individually with the children they are appointed. A volunteer’s main objective is to be an advocate for the child and ensure that no child falls through the cracks of the system. We strive to promote normalcy in some of our most vulnerable children’s lives during one of their most traumatic times. We do this by meeting any needs the children may have like clothing, shoes, camp attendance, sports or scouting fees, etc. 

To support the continuing efforts to meet the needs of the many displaced children in our local area, our Be a Hero Charity Concert will take place on November 5 from 6pm - 9pm at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village Outdoor Concert venue in Destin. Live music will be provided by The Mulligan’s Band. There will be food trucks, raffle prizes, and dancing under the stars!
