Kallos Chamber Music Series 22/23 Concert Season

The New Haven Lawn Club Preservation Trust presents Kallos Chamber Music Series. Join us for four extraordinary chamber music concerts in the beautiful, historic New Haven Lawn Club Ballroom. 
Concert Dates: November 9 | February 1 | March 29 | April 26

<p>This event offers <strong>general admission seating</strong> in the <strong>New Haven Lawn Club Ballroom</strong>.  Doors open for a pre-concert reception at <strong>7:00 PM</strong> and general admission ticket holders are welcome to claim an <strong>unreserved seat</strong> in the ballroom at this time. In addition to the pre-concert reception, refreshments will also be available during intermission. All refreshments and off-street parking in the New Haven Lawn Club lot are complimentary.</p><p>There will be <strong>limited reserved seating</strong> in front for concert series sponsors and their guests. To inquire about sponsorship and reserved seating please email the New Haven Lawn Club Preservation Trust (nhlcptrust@gmail.com).</p>

<h2>Sounds of Nature</h2><p>From the earliest moments in human evolution, music has directly reflected nature and its surroundings. Claude Debussy, one of the composers featured in tonight’s concert, said that “music is the expression of the movement of the waters, the play of curves described by changing breezes." With guest musicians from the esteemed Chamber Music Society of  Lincoln Center, Kallos presents an all-French program of chamber music, featuring harp, flute, and strings. Debussy is joined by composers Françaix, Roussel, and Tournier on a scenic journey of the pastoral and natural settings of 20th century rural France.</p><blockquote>“Music is the expression of the movement of the waters, the play of curves described by changing breezes.” -Claude Debussy</blockquote><blockquote>“The earth has music for those who listen” - Shakespeare</blockquote>

<h2>A﻿RTISTS</h2><h3><a href="https://www.bridgetkibbey.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bridget Kibbey, harp</a></h3><p>Called the “Yo-Yo Ma of the harp,” by Vogue Senior Editor Corey Seymour, Bridget Kibbey is in demand for her innovative, virtuosic performances that expand the expressive range of the harp. As a soloist and collaborator with today’s top artists, she crosses genres to emphasize and elevate the harp’s role through centuries and cultures of music. </p><p>As The New York Times says, “…she made it seem as though her instrument had been waiting all its life to explode with the gorgeous colors and energetic figures she was getting from it.” <a href="https://www.bridgetkibbey.com/#biography" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">More . . .</a></p><h3><a href="https://www.sooyunkim.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Sooyun Kim, flute</a></h3><p>Since her concerto debut with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra at age ten, Flutist, Sooyun Kim has enjoyed a flourishing career performing with orchestras around the world including the Bavarian Radio, Munich Philharmonic, Munich Chamber, and Boston Pops orchestras. She has been presented in recital series worldwide including the Millennium Stage at Kennedy Center and Seoul Arts Center. She was the first flutist to present a recital at the Louvre Museum’s “Concert a midi”. A winner of the Georg Solti Foundation Career Grant, Ms. Kim has received numerous international awards and prizes including the third prize at the ARD International Flute Competition. She makes regular summer appearances at the Music@Menlo, Spoleto USA, Yellow Barn, Rockport, Olympic, and Chamber Music Northwest festivals. <a href="https://www.sooyunkim.com/about-4/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">More . . .</a></p><h3>Kate Arndt, violin</h3><p>Violinist Katherine Arndt, a native of Boston, Massachusetts, is a full-time student at the Yale School of Music, where she is pursuing her master of music under the tutelage of Ani Kavafian. A recent graduate of New England Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Miriam Fried, Arndt is an avid chamber musician, soloist, and orchestral musician. She has participated in numerous prestigious music festivals, including IMS Prussia Cove, Taos School of Music, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, the Perlman Music Program, the Four Seasons Winter Workshop, the Sarasota Music Festival, and the Heifetz International Music Institute. She was also recently chosen as an active participant in the Kronberg Master Classes and Concerts at the Kronberg Academy in Germany, studying with Ana Chumachenco, and was featured in a master class with Midori in Boston’s Jordan Hall sponsored by Boston’s Celebrity Series. She was also a guest performer with the Borromeo String Quartet and Boston Trio. Kate Arndt has been fortunate to collaborate with many renowned artists, including David Shifrin, Colin Carr, Robert McDonald, Ida Kavafian, and Misha Amory.</p><h3><a href="https://guarnerihall.org/artist_profiles/tanner-menees/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Tanner Menees, viola</a></h3><p>Violist <strong>Tanner Menees </strong>is forging an enviable career as a chamber musician. Mr. Menees has collaborated with a range of notable artists, including Martin Beaver, Denis Bouriakov, Miriam Fried, Clive Greensmith, Lynn Harrell, Frans Helmerson, Gary Hoffman, Marcy Rosen, and Peter Stumpf. Tanner has performed internationally at festivals such as the Marlboro Music Festival, Ravinia’s Steans Music Institute, Chamberfest Cleveland, Menuhin Festival String Academy, Edinburgh Music Festival, Juilliard String Quartet Seminar, and McGill International String Quartet Academy and with NEXUS Chamber Music Chicago.</p><h3><a href="https://www.christine-j-lee.com/biography" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Christine J. Lee, cello</a></h3><p>Motivated and hungry for new experiences, Korean-born, Philadelphia-made cellist and activist, Christine J. Lee, crosses cultural boundaries through music and aims to connect people around the world. She is the most recent winner of the Isang Yun international competition in Korea as well as a laureate of the first Queen Elisabeth International Cello Competition. She has appeared with the the Brussels Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Monterey Symphony, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra Symphony, Houston Symphony, as well as Young Belgian Strings, Orchestra of Mons, and the National Orchestra of Belgium as a soloist. <a href="https://www.christine-j-lee.com/biography" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">More . . .</a></p>
