Sweetwater Organic Community Farm was established in 1995 as a nonprofit community-supported urban organic farm and environmental education center in Tampa, Florida. We are located on 6 acres of suburban property along the Sweetwater Creek in Tampa’s Town ‘n’ Country neighborhood, in Hillsborough County, Florida.We operate aCommunity Supported Agriculture (CSA) Membership program,Sweetwater Sunday Farmers’ Market and Music Seriesopen to the public, educationalfield trip programsfor visiting groups, farm tours, workshops, outdoor movies, seasonal events,volunteer opportunitiesand more!Through our hands-on programs, visitors of all agesdiscover the wonders of nature, explore ecological interconnections, practice appropriate land stewardship and master sustainable agriculture techniques.  Our farm provides the freshest possible organic vegetables and herbs for hundreds of Tampa Bay residents each year.At Sweetwater, community members come together to grow and enjoy fresh organic food, acquire sustainable living skills, support local agriculture, enjoy nature, make new friends and be a part of the community.

Learn about and make your own naturally carbonated soda using wild fermentation

A wildly delicious beverage, fermented soda is an economic and simple way to capture Florida’s seasonal fruits and botanicals. In this workshop, we will create fall inspired flavors of wild fermented sodas. We will learn a few applications that fall within lightly carbonated beverages, as well as how to flavor, carbonate, and troubleshoot wild soda. Participants in this class will get to make and take home a bottle of their own concoction.Sarah Arrazola, founder of St. Pete Ferments, is a St. Petersburg native and proud Floridian. She is co-founder of the annual Florida Ferment Fest, an event that celebrates all things fermented in the Sunshine State. She is a gardening and foraging enthusiast who has worked on organic vegetable and permaculture farms. With nearly a decade of fermentation experience, her goal is to make this style of food preservation accessible, delicious, and empowering to the individual.Materials costs are included in the price of the event.
