The Center for Arts at the Armory is a non-profit organization that resides in a historic Armory building, serving Somerville and the Greater Boston community and beyond as an accessible and inclusive venue for the arts, cultural and community events, exhibitions, markets, classes and more.The mission of Arts at the Armory is to provide an inclusive and accessible venue that creates opportunities for artists and cultural workers, brings diverse audiences together, enriches and transforms lives, and promotes the creative economy. In addition to the many events that CAA hosts that are produced independently of CAA, CAA has five signature programs: The Spotlight Series, The Performance Opportunity Program (POP), The Somerville Winter Farmers Market, The ROOTED Armory Cafe Event Series, and ROOTED Armory Cafe Visual Arts Exhibitions. CAA curates and produces performances in the Armory Performance Hall featuring local and touring artists as part of our Spotlight Series.

Queer Icon Bitch Stars in a One-Woman Musical Play About Her Life Story and How Bitch Became Bitch

Performance artist and musician Bitch tells the story of her life and reclaims the word Bitch for a name in this one-woman musical play full of violins, synths, and huge vocals.Performance artist, musician and queer music icon Bitch tells the story of her life in this musical one woman show. From the moment she ‘rides’ her broomstick onstage, she weaves a colorful tale of how a shy and introverted child goes on to reclaim the word Bitch for a name. This empowering, funny and heart-felt show is woven together with violin-forward pop songs from her most recent album “Bitchcraft,” which came out earlier this year on Kill Rock Stars.Bitch is a trained violinist, first appearing with her band Bitch and Animal. The band went on tour with Ani DiFranco who they met while playing a gig at a pizza shop in Provincetown. Since going solo, Bitch has toured with The Indigo Girls, produced two albums of her folk Idol Ferron, played herself in John Cameron Mitchell’s (Hedwig and The Angry Inch) “Shortbus,” and collaborated with Margaret Cho, Joey Soloway, Faith Soloway, God-des and Logan Lynn.“Between her effervescent style and the violin and synth-heavy music they’re known for, Bitch sure is giving new meaning to the word.” – BUSTDoors open at 7:00PM; Show starts at 8:00PM.
