We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Click here to join today.</a></p><h2>The Enneagram: Subtypes in Relationship with Others</h2><h3>Domains: Mapping Tools, Contemplative Practice</h3><p>How can people be the same Enneagram type yet look so different?</p><p>The reason we often look so different from someone with the same Enneagram type is that we express our type patterns through one of 3 dominant subtype INSTINCTS: Self Preservation, Social Belonging and Sexual or One to One Bonding. </p><p>Do these instincts affect our relationships?</p><p>Yes. Our primary subtype has a powerful impact in our relationships. Some say our subtype/instinct is more important than our Enneagram style in relationship with others. One person may want to connect through intimacy and sexuality, while another finds connection through a home project done together or preparing a meal together while another comes alive through getting involved in a social cause or group. Conflict and disconnection arises when people don&#x27;t have the same amount of energy </p><p>In this class, you will:</p><ul><li>Learn the three Enneagram subtypes and how it gets channeled through these human instincts.</li><li>Reflect on your dominant subtype and explore its advantages and challenges.</li><li>Explore emotions you tend to attract to/avoid given your dominant instinct.</li><li>Learn how each Enneagram type expresses each subtype. (For instance, Self-preservation 9s look very different from Self-preservation 6s and 8s!)</li><li>Listen to PANELS of each subtype share their experience of their dominant subtype/instinct plays out in their life.</li><li>Break into subtype groups in order to unpack how your subtype impacts important relationships with intimates, friends and groups.</li></ul><p>Highly Recommended (not required) reading: </p><ul><li><a href="https://theenneagramatwork.com/products/instinctual-subtypes-in-relationships-handbook-english" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Instinctual Subtypes in Relationships Handbook by Peter O&#x27;Hanrahan</a></li><li>The Complete Enneagram by Beatrice Chestnut PhD</li></ul><p>Leslie Hershberger is a leading teacher of the Enneagram and a skilled facilitator, consultant and spiritual guide whose work spans the U.S and Europe. She integrates the Enneagram, 3 centered contemplative practice and Integral Theory into her work. Her core work is supporting clients and teams in cultivating psychological awareness, relationship awareness and spiritual Presence. Leslie leads with Enneagram Social 7 and brings compassion, humor and insight into her facilitation of Enneagram panels. She&#x27;s a fan of the work of The Hive and looks forward to exploring the instincts, emotions and the Enneagram with class participants.</p><p>Niki Pappas has been focusing on wellness and spiritual growth for the past 10+ years, following a 20-year career in marketing research. Her endeavors have included certifications for holistic health coaching, yoga, Thai bodywork, and currently, the Enneagram. Niki has been involved with The Hive since May 2018 as an eager class participant, facilitator, cohort guide, and, since May 2020, happy member of the Lead Team. Leading with Enneagram Type 4, Niki is committed to her own inner work and honored to offer and receive presence and compassion in all of her relationships. Niki lives in OTR and is the mother of two amazing young men.</p><h3>Note: Class will not be held on Thursday, Oct. 20th</h3><h3>Covid Considerations: Masks are currently optional at the Hive. Individuals may choose to wear a mask for personal protection, and as always, we ask anyone who is feeling sick or has a high temperature to not attend until they are recovered.
