2022 PROXY Film Fest: PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN

PROXY is a temporary two-block project located in San Francisco which seeks to mobilize a flexible environment of food, art, culture, and retail within renovated shipping containers. PROXY is both a response and solution to the ever-changing urban lifecycle, existing as a temporary placeholder and an instigator of evolving cultural curiosities in art, food, retail and events. Our design embraces the vast diversity of a city and encourages the rotation of new ideas and businesses as well as innovative public art installations which come and go like new visitors at the site.HERE FOR NOW creates centers of cultural vibrancy through temporary art and design interventions. As an arts institution without walls, it provides equitable access to enrichment that spans public and private spheres. Through collaborations with artists and arts organizations, HERE FOR NOW works to educate and inspire, leaving a lasting legacy of optimism, promise, and a renewed sense of community.  HERE FOR NOW is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.Together, PROXY + HERE FOR NOW create something special for temporary places.

The 2022 PROXY Fall Series of outdoor cinema continues on Friday, October 21st at the PROXY Community Walk-in Theater with:<h1></h1><h1>Promising Young Woman</h1>Directed by Emerald Fennell, 2020 [R]A story about loss, about revenge, and one that hits far too close to home for any woman. Promising Young Woman is a dark satire beautifully shot, centering on Cassie, a medical school dropout whose life has become defined by the horrific loss of her childhood friend. A reflection on a society that prioritizes the career of a promising young man over some ‘“alleged” incident in which both parties were probably drunk, Cassie takes it further, driving home the hypocrisy of the “nice guy” as they prey on the helpless and vulnerable until she switches from drop-down drunk to icy-sober, forcing them to confront their true intentions. Full of twists, this film forces the audience to feel uncomfortable while poised on the edge of their seat. Come early to claim a good spot, enjoy a frosty <a href="https://fortpointbeer.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Fort Point Beer</a>, wine from <a href="https://www.figandthistlesf.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Fig &amp; Thistle</a> (all proceeds support outdoor cinema at PROXY!), and delicious fare from local food truck <a href="http://www.hailthechairman.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Chairman</a>.At PROXY, we celebrate diversity both on the screen, behind the camera, and in the audience.
