AGPS Annual Meeting

The Austin Group Psychotherapy Society is an interdisciplinary organization of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and counselors who share a mutual commitment to continuing professional development and to excellence in the practice of group psychotherapy.Over the past decade, the Austin Group Psychotherapy Society (AGPS) has gained national recognition for the quality of our training opportunities and the warmth and enthusiasm of our members.AGPS trainings and social events are designed to mentor new professionals and students, expand the knowledge and clinical skills of all members, and enrich and rejuvenate established practitioners.

<P><SPAN><SPAN>Our meeting will begin with the business portion and then move into a panel discussion. Our new President Deborah Sharp will address the membership and outgoing treasurer Mary-Lynn Marinucci will give an overview of the financial status of the organization.</SPAN></SPAN></P>

<P>Panel Description:<BR>Assumptions about gender and gender identity inform how we relate to others in the workplace, in our relationships, and in our therapy groups. Please join AGPS in this year's panel discussion, as we explore power of groups to challenge some of these assumptions and help members grapple with the complexities of gender and gender identity. Panelists Pam Greenstone, Paula Buls, Anne Marie Jennings and Derek Leighton will share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences on these issues from their various perspectives as leaders of women's groups, transgender groups, mixed gender groups, and groups for gay males. Small group breakout sessions will provide participants with a space to continue the dialogue.<BR></P>
