<h2>Case Review: Community Psychiatry Residency Training with Patients in Alternative Settings</h2><h3>Most medical residents, regardless of specialty, spend most or all of their intensive training in traditional medical settings--hospitals and clinics--that are not optimized to provide high-quality care to marginalized and vulnerable populations, particularly those experiencing homelessness. This case will describe a patient seen in the context of a psychiatry residency rotation specifically designed to literally &quot;meet the patient where they&#x27;re at,&quot; and will explore the benefits (to patients, to trainees, and to systems) of incorporating more community-based work into medical training programs.</h3>CME Program Code: 23257Presenter: David Beckmann, MD, MPH<ul><li>Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry, Thomas Jefferson University</li></ul>Target Audience: Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners who have completed the MAT waiver training and didactic training of the MAT Preceptor program.Learning Objectives: <ul><li>Describe a case that illustrates how giving residents experience of providing care to patients with substance use disorders outside of traditional treatment settings benefits learners, patients, and communities.</li></ul>FEE: There is no fee for this program.
