Mission Trails Regional Park will mark National Public Lands Day 2022 with a volunteer service event and educational opportunities.

East Fortuna Staging Area

Established in 1994, National Public Lands Day is held annually on the fourth Saturday in September to mobilize volunteers to help restore and improve our public lands.To honor the day, City of San Diego Parks and Recreation and Mission Trails Regional Park Foundation staff invite the community to help beautify Mission Trails and give back to the land we all love and share. Additionally, the MTRP Foundation will host a table with information about the park and the efforts to preserve, protect, and enhance Mission Trails. National Public Lands Day at Mission Trails Regional Park will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 8AM-11AM at the East Fortuna Staging Area. Volunteers will join the rangers' monthly Park Beautification crew to assist with spreading mulch, pulling weeds, litter abatement, and planting native species. Members of the public can also come by the East Fortuna Staging Area that morning to learn about Mission Trails, how it became a place for everyone’s learning and enjoyment, and our plans to expand in the coming years.The volunteering activity is limited to 40 people, 18 years or older. All who sign up will need to complete a form through the City of San Diego’s Better Impact volunteer system; please sign up only if you intend to stay the whole time. If you register and cannot attend, please cancel your reservation and at least 48 hours in advance. All volunteers will receive a special National Public Lands Day at Mission Trails T-shirt.
