To celebrate National Crime Prevention Month during the month of October, Sarasota County Neighborhood Services and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting its first annual Neighborhood Safety Academy to increase community safety awareness throughout Sarasota County and its municipalities. The program runs each Tuesday evening from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, from October 4 to October 25.Program speakers represent the Sarasota Fire Department, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, University of South Florida (USF) Traffic Operations and Safety Research, Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), and more! The program closes on Tuesday, October 25 with a graduation ceremony open to family, friends, and neighbors! Participants must attend all four sessions to be able to graduate from the program. <ul><li>October 4, Safe Homes</li><li>October 11, Safe Streets</li><li>October 18, Safe Communities</li><li>October 25, Graduation Ceremony at the County Administration Building, 1660 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota, Florida, 34236</li></ul>The Neighborhood Safety Academy is open to Sarasota County residents above the age of 18. Registration is free and refreshments will be provided!
