This program will explore the evaluation and treatment of complex wounds and related infections associated with injection behavior. Dr. Sara Keely Schultz, MD, FACP, FIDSA will share her perspective as an infectious disease provider at Temple University Hospital and discuss myths and best practices associated with diagnosing complex wound infections, prescribing appropriate antibiotics, escalating care to the hospital, and implementing harm reduction with patient-centered care.

TARGET AUDIENCE: Medical providers (MDs, DOs, NPs, PAs) and nurses who provide care for people who use drugs.

NURSING STATEMENT: This nursing educational program is jointly provided by The Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (ANAC) and the MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center of the Health Federation of Philadelphia. ANAC is providing 1.5 contact hours for the successful completion of this program. ANAC is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development (NCPD) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. To claim nursing contact hours, attendees must:

• Be registered as a participant.

• Complete the post training evaluation.

A link to an online survey will be emailed to you after the training. Complete and submit the online survey. The last step of the survey will allow you to download and print a certificate of completion. The deadline to claim contact hours is January 4, 2023.
