5th Annual Grow Gardens Conference

This organization was formed in 2015 by Lena Young Green and Kitty Wallace.  Along with 4 other existing community gardens with the intention of providing support for the success and formation of community gardens in West Central Florida.  Members of the Coalition meet quarterly, and offer an annual conference to the community to inform, inspire and provide an opportunity to network with other urban agriculture advocates.

CONFERENCE: Gardeners Gather to Spotlight the Importance of Community Gardening on Sustainability &amp; Resilience. The theme of the 5th Annual Grow Gardens Conference is Gardening is Good for the Earth, for garden lovers, sustainability/ resiliency advocates, food equity / food justice supporters, urban agriculturalists of all types and the general public. Her Honor, Mayor Jane Castor will give the opening address, along with regional experts to inspire and inform. Dr. Tammy Gray-Steele, CEO of the National Women in Agriculture Association will be the keynote speaker. There is an opportunity to listen to and network with regional experts. Lunch is provided with the ticket; vegetarian options available. FRIDAY NIGHT RECEPTION (at the Tampa Heights Community Center, 2005 N Lamar Ave., 6:30 to 9:30pm) IS OPEN TO ALL WHO ARE PUTTING THEIR HEART AND THEIR HANDS TO USE FEEDING PEOPLE; STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY; CARING FOR THE EARTH... wear a costume, win a prize! NO TICKET IS NECESSARY.... HOWEVER DONATIONS ARE APPRECIATED.
