Welcome to the 3rd Annual Paper Maker Obstacle Course Race!

Join us on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Lacamas Park for a fun-filled in-person event.

Get ready to lace up your running shoes and hit the scenic trails of Lacamas Park. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just getting started, this event is perfect for everyone! With 10 obstacles and some mystery involved, this race is bound to hype you up from the start line!

Experience the thrill of running amidst the breathtaking natural beauty of the park, surrounded by lush greenery and stunning views. Challenge yourself to complete the 4.5"ish" mile course at your own pace, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow participants.

CAN I RACE WITH A CHILD?

YES. THEY WILL NEED TO PURCHASE AN OPEN ENTRY IF THEY ARE 8 OR OLDER. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR CHILD AND WE WILL HAVE A SEPARATE WAIVER FOR YOUR CHILD FOR RACING.

CAN I BRING A FURRY COMPANION?

THIS ONE IS REALLY COMMON SENSE. IF YOUR DOG HAS RACED BEFORE IN ANY OTHER EVENT AND IS FULLY TRAINED TO DO SO, YOU ARE MORE THAN WELCOME. IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD YOUR DOG AT AN EVENT BEFORE, THEN WE WOULD ENCOURAGE YOU TO KEEP THEM AT HOME. PLEASE ONLY BRING AN EXPERIENCED DOG WITH YOU PLEASE.

IS THERE WATER ON COURSE? FUEL?

NO. THIS IS A CUPLESS EVENT, AND PLEASE BRING WATER WITH YOU OR A HYDRATION VEST. YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN FUEL AS WELL. WE WILL HAVE TAILWIND GIVEN IN BAGS, AS ALWAYS, WHICH IS PLENTY OF CARBS AND CALORIES FOR EVEN THE NEWEST RUNNER/HIKER.

IS THERE A CASH PURSE FOR COMPETITIVE RACERS?

YES! BOTH 1ST AND 2ND PLACE MALE AND FEMALE WILL HAVE A CASH PURSE. SO BRING SOME COMPETITION WITH YOU! MAKE SOME NEW FRIENDS!

CAN I REGISTER AT THE EVENT?

YES, YOU CAN ON YOUR DEVICE THROUGH EVENTBRITE. YOU CAN ALWAYS PAY CASH AT THE EVENT.

ARE THERE RESTROOMS ON COURSE?

NO. THE ONLY RESTROOM IS AT THE FESTIVAL AREA OF THE RACE. YOU CAN ALWAYS USE A BUSH, IF NEEDED ON COURSE.

ARE SPECTATORS FREE?

YES! SPECTATORS ARE FREE! WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO SIGN THEM UP FOR THE RACE, HOWEVER!

WILL THERE BE VENDORS? FOOD ON SITE?

YES. WE WILL HAVE FOOD VENDORS ON SITE IN THE FESTIVAL AREA. ALSO, WE WILL HAVE LOCAL VENDORS JOINING US AS WELL!

ARE THERE MEDALS FOR FINISHERS? T SHIRTS?

MEDALS: YES. T-SHIRTS: NO. Every racer each year will get a "medal", in 2023 we handed out Paper Maker patches! This year, every racer will get something special for finishing this race. Top Competitive Finishers receive hand-made walnut plaques to hang on the wall!

HOW MANY OBSTACLES ARE ON COURSE?

Each year it varies just a little bit. We roughly have 10 each year, combining some natural elements and some obstacles which we personally bring in. If you cannot do an obstacle (it's okay) just run around it! Competitive racers are required to complete all obstacles.

WHAT IF I CANNOT DO AN OBSTACLE?

IT'S OKAY! JUST RUN PAST IT, ITS YOUR RACE! HOWEVER, COMPETITVE RACERS MUST FINISH ALL OBSTACLES IN ORDER TO ELIGIBLE FOR PRIZE MONEY.

IS THERE A COURSE MAP?

The course map will be revealed the morning of the race at the venue. Including standards for each obstacle.

WHEN DO I SHOW UP?

Show up about 1 hour before your heat starts. You will have adequate time to PRP, warmup, and meet some new friends!

WILL THERE BE FOOD AT THE FINISH?

YES! Bananas will be at the finish line. You will also receive some snacks in your goodie bags when you register.

Paper Maker Events was born in Camas, Washington highlighting the roots of the city by combining the "heart" of Camas: the Georgia Pacific Paper Mill and the "spirit" of the Camas Paper Makers. We bring the "body, mind, and spirit" as we are a trio of three outdoor enthusiasts and certified personal trainers looking to bring more people to the sport of Obstacle Course Racing. Our Paper Maker Obstacle Course Race is our signature event which includes over miles of trail running, 10 obstacles, beautiful scenery around Round Lake in the Lacamas Park.
