The Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati, Inc. was created in 1948 as a non-profit educational organization to promote interest in handweaving. Today, the Guild offers education in a wide range of fiber processes and techniques, including weaving, felting, spinning, basketry, knitting, and dyeing. Guild members are from the Cincinnati metropolitan area and surrounding communities, as well as from Kentucky and Indiana.Members range in experience from beginners to professionals. All benefit from the Guild's priorities: education through classes, workshops, programs, study groups; sharing information and fiber techniques with other members and community groups; and promoting and supporting local fiber producers and businesses.After 50 years of meeting in various churches throughout Greater Cincinnati, the Guild has its own home at 4870 Gray Road in Spring Grove Village.

Needle Arts

Learn a variety of needle arts including such crafts as knitting, embroidery, punch needle and quilting.

Dates: Tuesdays, April 15, 22, 29 &amp; May 6, 6pm - 8pm all days. Sales end: April 8. Ticket: $90. Instructor: Abby Langdon. Materials fee: $10. Skills Needed: Able to thread a needle and sew straight stitches. Class Limit: 8. Class Location: 1st Floor. Student Age: Teen - Adult.Learn how to raise your stitches up off of the cloth and make your embroidery piece pop! In this 4 week class you’ll learn a series of 3D embroidery stitches to create a miniature succulent garden using nothing but your thread and needle. Basic embroidery experience is helpful to have; you should be able to thread a needle and sew simple straight stitches.Supplies to Bring:<ul><li>$10 materials fee payable to the instructor at start of class. Contact the instructor if you have questions about this policy.Abby Langdon is a textile artist with more than 15 years of experience creating fiber art in fun, innovative ways. Her career began on the indie craft show circuit in 2008 when she opened her business, abbydid, where she designed and produced plush creatures, mainly monsters, which now dwell (harmlessly) in homes around the world and have been featured in quite a few publications. This focus eventually evolved into 2D and 3D fiber art that appeared in gallery shows, art fairs, and commercially commissioned settings. Langdon's techniques and focus are ever-evolving, and now include a millinery business of handmade hats and accessories incorporating traditional techniques. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.Depending on the CDC Guidelines for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
