3D Animation

Daemen College: Business BuildingBuffalo, NY
Monday, July 20-Friday, July 24, 2020  •  1 PM-4:30 PM
Overview

Why just watch animations when you could learn how to make them?

Alice Scene

During this half-day camp, campers will learn how to create short 3D animated interactive games and movies, using a program called Alice. Alice is an innovative drag and drop block-based programming environment that makes it easy to create animations, build interactive narratives, or program simple games in 3D. Alice allows the camper to select from hundreds of pre-built objects and characters to use and program in their own animations.  No prior programming or coding experience is required.

Camp Details:

  • DATES: July 20th- July 24th, 1pm to 4:30pm
  • PRICE: $165
  • AGES: 10 & Up

  • BRING: Campers will need a flash drive to save their work on, we will have some available for sale during online registration and also at the camp during check-in if needed.
  • No prior coding experience is necessary

Interested in having your camper stay for the full day?

Check out our morning session of Intro to Python!  If your camper stays for the full day, we will be providing supervision from 12pm-1pm between the end time and start time of the two camps. During this time it is recommended that your camper bring a packed lunch to eat. We'll also be playing videos during the break or depending on the number of campers (and on the weather) we'll be going outside so they can eat their lunch while getting some fresh air.

FAQs

Where is the camp located?

The tech camps are held on the campus of Daemen College on Main Street in Amherst, NY. Facilities include the Business Building which houses several computer labs on campus.

How many children in each camp?

Just like a regular class, we ensure a good adult-to-child ratio. Depending on age, this ranges from 1:8 to 1:10, so most camps are maxed out at 20 children. Daemen Tech Camps reserves the right to cancel a camp should enrollment fall below five (5) children.

What is the refund policy?

Refunds will be given only as a result of injury or illness. The refund will be based upon a percent of the daily loss, less a $25 non-refundable fee. A $25 processing fee will also be charged for any cancellation.

Health Safety

In response to COVID-19, the camp is taking actions to limit the spread of communicable diseases by implementing the following safety guidelines:

  1. Campers and staff are required to use hand sanitizer or wash their hands thoroughly before re-entry into the classroom.
  2. Covering coughs and sneezes.
  3. Keep hands away from faces.
  4. Increase in social distance by limiting the number of campers to 12 per camp so that there is more room and space between the campers in the classrooms.
  5. Sanitizing computer lab after each session by wiping or spraying down keyboards and mice with lysol or clorox.

The situation and continuance of the camps will be re-evaluated in June 2020.
