About this event

PILD 2023 is your opportunity to bring the issues of your hometown to Washington, DC. PILD is open to all Extension professionals in 1862, 1890, and 1994 institutions. We invite you to learn and practice leadership skills, meet federal partners, and explore national priorities and funding streams.

PILD full conference registration includes the Virtual Pre-Conference Event.

PILD ACTIVITIES

AFTER DARK MONUMENT TOUR

This is an evening, guided bus tour with stops at several key monuments in Washington, DC. Tickets ($45) can be purchased when registering.

The After Dark Monument Tour will include the memorials on the mall and around the tidal basin. If time permits the Iwo Jima may be visited.

BICYCLE MONUMENT TOUR

Join your colleagues on a bike tour of the monuments! The ride will begin/end at the hotel and be mostly on bike paths but may include short distances in bike lanes. Participants should be comfortable riding a bike for a distance of 11-12 miles at a recreational pace. We will ride across the Arlington Bridge and visit many of the most popular monuments including the Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King, Korean War Veterans, Vietnam War Veterans, World War II, Washington, Jefferson, and Roosevelt, with time to walk around and through the monuments. The registration fee includes bike and helmet rental and a bottle of water. Specific route and monuments subject to change. The tour does not include a professional guide of the monuments. Tickets ($45) can be purchased when registering.
