Overview

Join local artist Keila Elisabeth at MOCA for figure drawing on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month.

This life drawing series, led by local artist Keila Elisabeth on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month, 12 - 3 p.m., is designed for artists of all levels of experience. Learn and practice general proportion and key anatomical landmarks by studying a live model. A focus will be placed on creating dynamic figures, demonstration and practice of gesture drawings, and intentional consideration of different levels of finish.

Materials are not provided for this class. Bring your own materials to draw. Newsprint and charcoal are recommended for gesture drawing, but any drawing medium is acceptable for longer poses.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Keila Elisabeth is a visual artist from Jacksonville, Florida. She earned her BFA in drawing and painting from the University of North Florida in the spring of 2025. Since then, she has attended a summer residency at the New York Academy of Art in New York City, where she refined her understanding of the figure. She has also exhibited her work at Southlight Gallery and is active within the Jacksonville arts community.

She works across various media, including oil painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, and digital media. Her work focuses on the figure through the lens of the feminine experience. To her, the body is a vessel for storytelling. Through personal narratives and symbolism, she explores the complicated yet beautiful journey of self-realization.

Keila began teaching at The Art Garage in 2022, where she developed her approach to helping students refine their skills and find their voice. She has worked with a wide range of ages, from children to adults, in both multimedia classes and intensive drawing and painting workshops. Her teaching philosophy centers on building confidence and nurturing a broad, adaptable skill set that students can carry into their own artistic practice.
