Behind the Scenes Tour of the Whitney Museum

An annual festival celebrating arts and activism across Greenwich Village and the East Village. In 2024 the festival will run from Sept 14 through Sept 28. The program will feature folk, rock, jazz, and classical and new music, as well as literature, tours, talks, comedy, food and more. The tour, led by Nick Holmes, will include an overview of the Whitney Museum’s Renzo Piano-designed building, and offer a behind the scenes view of spaces rarely open to the public, including a look inside the museum&#x27;s conservation lab, and more.Please use the 555 West Street entrance. Nick Holmes is General Counsel and Assistant Secretary, Whitney Museum of American Art.Mr. Holmes serves as General Counsel of the Whitney Museum of American Art, and first joined the Whitney in 2003. He is responsible for advising the Museum on a range of legal and policy matters, and was part of the small staff team that worked closely with the architects and construction manager on the Whitney’s new building. Mr. Holmes has served as Co-Chair of the Smithsonian Institution’s Legal Issues in Museum Administration conference, and has taught courses in museum law at the graduate level.Photo: The Whitney Building: View from Gansevoort Street.
