"From Frustrated to Fulfilled: Raising Obedient, Joyful and Successful Kids"

We are Soul Food Family—or in Chinese,搜福小家—agroup of local Christians wanting to share God’s love with our neighbors. We hope to meet you soon!

Soul Food Family (搜福小家)

Are you frustrated in your relationship with your child?
Do you have trouble getting your child to listen to you?
Do you feel overwhelmed with the responsibilities of parenting?
The heart of every parent longs for his or her child's life to filled with health, happiness, and success. The fundamental building block to achieve this outcome is wise and loving instruction and discipline. Join us for a parenting workshop from a seasoned couple who have "seen it all" (and raised children who span the specture of parenting challenges).

For Mothers: Miltinnie will share her wisdom, as well as practice tips, about how to raise obedient and joyful children. She has a unique perspective and experience as a mother, having raised not only an exceptionally talented Harvard graduate and musician, but also a severely autistic son with special needs. She will provide valuable insight on how to be an effective mother during the different developmental stages of their children.

For Fathers: Fathers play a crucial role in the cognitive, emotional, and social development of their children. Yet child-rearing responsibilities in Chinese families often fall on the mother or grandparents.  Lee will share his own story about his journey as a father, from his experience as a fatherless child to being a father of three children of diverse ability and potential.  He will offer advice about how fathers can be actively involved in the lives of their children and guide them to reach their fullest potential.

SPEAKER BIOS:
Lee and Miltinnie Yih both graduated from Stanford University - Lee with an MBA, and Miltinnie with her BA. Lee Yih was born to Chinese graduate students at the University of Iowa, and spent 17 years in Hong Kong and has worked for Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers, and was also the first person to represent Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. Miltinnie Yih was a teacher and counselor for the Hong Kong International School, and started Kaplan in Hong Kong and China. Miltinnie co-authored "Celebrate the Seasons" (NavPress) and was a contributing writer for the Women’s Study Bible (Thomas Nelson). Married for over 45 years, Lee and Miltinnie have 3 children: David (born autistic), Christie (attended Harvard University, and currently a recording artist in LA), and Michael (sales for SF-based company).

<LI>爸爸组：父亲在孩子的成长中担任着不可替代的作用，然而在中国的很多家庭，养育儿女的责任常常落在妈妈或祖父母的身上。刘黎会分享他自己作为一个爸爸的心路历程：他如何从一个从小没有父亲的孩子，成为了三个性格迥异、各有天赋的孩子的爸爸。他会提供给父亲们如何积极参与和指导孩子的生活，帮助他们实现自我价值的建议。</LI>

讲员介绍 Speaker Bio：
刘黎和米雪夫妇均为斯坦福校友。刘黎先生的父母均是在爱荷华大学读研究院的留学生。他曾在香港居住17年，并曾任职于著名投资银行摩根斯坦利和雷曼兄弟，他也是第一个代表高盛银行进驻香港市场的领军人物。
米雪女士曾任职于香港国际学校，并且是香港和中国大陆Kaplan教育中心的创办人。她著有《珍珠项链》、《Celebrate the Seasons》，并是《Women’s Study Bible》的撰写人之一。
刘黎与米雪结婚超过45年，他们育有三个成年孩子：大卫（患有自闭症），克利斯提（毕业于哈佛大学，现为录音艺术家）以及麦克（旧金山Oldcastle Glass担任销售工作）。
