Join the 20th Annual ImageNation Outdoors Festival &amp; East River Plaza mall for two nights of FREE Drive-In and open-air seating on the mall's garage rooftop. Our first screening, Sunday, August 7 is West Side Story preceded by music spun by DJ Big Ive! And come back for a Kids Night Out screening of Encanto on Sunday, August 21. You must RSVP for each to attend both! These screenings are presented with support from Applebee's and Costco.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 7, 2022 &gt;&gt;&gt;WEST SIDE STORY - Dir. by Steven Spielberg, 2hrs., 36 min., USAAn adaptation of the 1957 musical, West Side Story explores forbidden love and the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds.West Side Story is one of the most celebrated musicals of all time. Inspired by William Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, the story is set in the mid-1950s in the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City, then a multiracial, blue-collar neighborhood. The members of the Sharks, from Puerto Rico, are taunted by the Jets, a white gang. The young protagonist, Tony, a former member of the Jets and best friend of the gang's leader, Riff, falls in love with Maria, the sister of Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks. The dark theme, sophisticated music, extended dance scenes, and focus on social problems marked a turning point in musical theatre.
