World Premiere As Quiet As It's Kept: a multi-discipline performance installation

Bailey's Cafe is a Brooklyn-based non-profit, connecting generations to make a better world. Named after a novel by Gloria Naylor, where the Cafe serves people who find themselves at the edge fo the world and seek a ploace to heal and ground themselves.  We believe that healthy vibrant comunities have spaces where people can go to find their personal relevance and sense of purpose, nurture their individual growth, and make connnections with other people, including across generations.  For more info:  baileyscafe.org

Bailey's Cafe

On Saturday, November 11, 2017 Bailey's Cafe will mount our multi-discipline performance installation As Quiet As It's Kept (AQAIK) based on the stories of veterans of color and their role in a changing community. AQAIK examines home, community and honor while expressing hopes for belonging in a rapidly changing neighborhood. Set in 1959 and 2017, AQAIK explores the stories of community members who leave to become veterans and those who stay to become veterans of their community, the time that passes and changes that occur inside and all around them. AQAIK is being created through a collaborative process, under the artistic direction of Monica L. Williams with artists from various genres:  Kadeem Alston Roman, Zoe Flowers, Michael Hill, Anna Pond, DJ Reborn, Robyn Twomey.
There will be three performances on Saturday November 11th:  3 PM, 5 PM and 7 PM.  Audience will be limited to 30 for each performance.
