Education on what to expect in the first few days after birth, returning to work, and basic lactation and newborn care.

Breastfeeding is a common and natural way to feed your newborn. A prenatal class can offer education and suggestions to help get you off to a great start!The goal of these classes is to help expectant parents learn the basics of breastfeeding so they are comfortable and informed during the postpartum period. Topics include:<ul><li>what to pack in your birth bag for breastfeeding, </li><li>how to incorporate breastfeeding in to your birth plan, </li><li>how to order your breast pump through insurance, </li><li>what to expect in the first week, </li><li>latch positions, </li><li>basics of returning to work, </li><li>maintaining milk supply, </li><li>and basic newborn care. </li></ul>Attendees will receive a breast milk storage magnet, class notes, and a folder of handouts and resources. Partners are welcome. Limit one guest per pregnant parent. Maximum class size is 4 couples. Videos of breast and nipples will be shown. Snacks and water bottles will be provided. Please respect facility’s protocol on mask recommendations for guests.
