In Asian/Asian-American cultures, joy can often be perceived as an emotion that needs to be suppressed, accessed only when we have truly earned it (and will we ever get there?), or named by others. Cultural and racial messages within the US also shape how Asians and Asian-Americans are not allowed to experience joy. Joy however can be transformative and bring vitality to our lives. - We will be continuing the Q&amp;A section in this interactive webinar. - In case you are not able to attend at the time, the recording will be available for 7 days for people who register. We encourage you to come because our hope is to create more connection and community as we learn and build together. - In this interactive webinar, we will a) recognize the power of joy, b) identify mindsets that block this emotion, c) reclaim narratives that give us access to this powerful emotion, and d) identify ways to build and protect joyful experiences unconditionally and unapologetically.Who are Snehal and Christine?Snehal Kumar, PhD (she/her/hers) is an Indian-born US educated psychologist based in New York City, where she offers individual counseling and supervision services. As both clinician and supervisor, she centers and explores how folks’ identities and their experiences navigating systems of privilege and oppression impact their well-being. She believes healing, learning, and liberation occurs through intentional connection, action, and rest, and is forever learning and unlearning through formal and informal ways.
