The Sound Room is aptly named. The focus is on the sound or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience.  We are an all-ages listening room. We exist to present great music and promote jazz as an art form.The Sound Room is the home of Bay Area Jazz & Arts, a  501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on promoting the Arts.

Oakland-based soul singer and composer Lilan Kane (LEE - lawn) is authentic, on and off stage. The sultry honesty in her voice is as raw as her lyrical stories of love, life and self-discovery. A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Kane has sold out numerous residencies at Yoshi's Oakland and SFJAZZ as well as performances at Minton's Playhouse (NYC), Chris's Jazz Cafe (Philly), French Quarter Festival (New Orleans), Concord Pavillion, The Mint (LA), Fillmore Jazz Festival and many others.Her songs have been featured on KCSM, WGBO, Jazziz.com, Soulandjazz.com, Soultracks.com, Thisisrnb.com and others. Her new single "TKMO" pays homage to the challenges of quarantine as well as one of her favorite artists Roy Ayers."Every immaculate detail in making “TKMO” happen was guided by Kane in her debut production turn. At a time of a lengthy lockdown, Kane’s artistic spirit appears to have soared even further." - Soultracks.comKane has sung with Pete Escovedo Latin Jazz Orchestra, and opened for Hall &amp; Oates, Lenny Williams, Freddie Hughes, The Doobie Brothers, Chicago, Sharon Jones, Trombone Shorty, and Morgan James. ​
