Founded in 1992, the Friends of the Presumpscot River is non-profit organization, supported by donations, grants and the efforts of our volunteers. Our mission is to work to restore and protect water quality, river habitat and native fisheries in the Presumpscot River through stewardship, advocacy and education, while creating recreational opportunities and instilling appreciation of the river in all the communities it touches.

The Farm at Conant Homestead

Join Friends of the Presumpscot River for a special evening to honor our river’s natural heritage, commemorate historic &amp; current efforts to protect it and support its ongoing restoration.5:00 PM - Gather at The Farm at Conant Homestead, on a section of Portland Trails looking east toward the Presumpscot River, where the Friends will lead a walk past the memorial to Chief Polin, of the Abenaki Nation, who led the first documented dam protest in New England during the mid-1700s, advocating for fish passage to protect a vital food source for his people of the “dawn-land”) and down to the beloved Presumpscot River. Here we will talk about the current dam removal and fish passage construction. Check-in is from 5:00 to 5:30.6:30 PM – Three Sisters Harvest buffet dinner &amp; Friends of the Presumpscot River&#x27;s annual celebration. Gather together to enjoy live music, good food, drink, and conversation! Suggested donation of $60.00 per person to help support Friends of the Presumpscot River’s continued efforts to restore fish passage, improve water quality, and bring back the natural character of our river.  Thank your for being part of this annual celebration honoring the river and the Abenaki people forever tied to it&#x27;s existence.Cordially,FOPR
