Silicon Valley has been called the “Innovation Capital of the World.” As the birthplace of companies like Apple, Google, and Facebook, it is a hotbed of innovation and entrepreneurship that has given rise to the greatest creation of wealth in the history of the planet.
As a veteran leader of tech companies in the Silicon Valley for over 35 years, Skip Vaccarrello has seen first-hand the rapid change and growth over the last 3 decades. As VP at VisiCorp, the industry’s first spreadsheet, Skip played an integral role in the revolution in personal computing in the 1980s. As CEO of multiple other Silicon Valley companies, Skip was part of the networking and communications growth in the early 1990s, the explosion of Internet usage in the late 1990s and 2000s, and the recent growth in social networking.
In his talk, Skip will offer a firsthand account of Silicon Valley’s unique culture and illustrious history, and also share his own personal journey of faith – how at the pinnacle of his professional success he experienced a profound emptiness that he found could only be satisfied and fulfilled by God. He will also tell several other fascinating stories of Silicon Valley leaders who found meaning through faith – some through science, some through success, and some through adversity and suffering.

Skip Vaccarello is a Silicon Valley executive, author, and Christian thought leader. His experience includes VP at VisiCorp, the provider of the industry’s first spreadsheet; CEO of Communications Solutions, Inc.; division general manager of 3Com; and co-founder and CEO of The Saratoga Group. Most recently, he served as President and CEO of Applied Weather Technology, a global company providing software and services to the maritime industry. Skip is the author of the book and blog, Finding God in Silicon Valley, is a professor in the MBA program at William Jessup University, teaching entrepreneurship and leadership and ethics courses, works as an independent business consultant and mentor, and with three partners is starting an investment fund called 1Flourish. Skip chairs the Silicon Valley Prayer Breakfast, and sits on the board of other for profit and non-profit organizations. He earned an A.B. with honors in economics from Harvard College and an MBA with honors from Boston University.
