As the leading organisation for writing in the ACT region, MARION supports and grows the innovative, diverse, and established writing sector that is a part of our vibrant arts landscape.At MARION, our vision is to elevate not just our writers, but our writing sector to a level that ensures funding and recognition on-par with other art disciplines. By providing the highest quality professional development opportunities, as well as networking and collaborative pathways for writers, we are shaping an environment in which they can build a sustainable creative practice. Through our initiatives, resources, leadership, and facilitation of connection, we play a pivotal role in elevating writers and their art.

ACT Notable Awards  is a special initiative to celebrate what our writers have overcome in 2020 and 2021.

Canberra Contemporary Art Space

The ACT Notable Awards is the first physical event held by ACT Writers in two years. This event is designed to showcase the writing talent of the ACT region as well as to celebrate ACT region writers in a professional and formal manner – the kind of recognition this talent and art form deserves.We are delighted to invite you to attend the inaugural ACT Notable Awards on Friday 29 July at Canberra Contemporary Art Space (CCAS) from 5.30-7.30pm.The inaugural Notables Awards event will be the first physical event held by ACT Writers in 2 years. This event will showcase the writing talent of the ACT region as well as celebrate the tenacity of ACT region writers in a professional and formal manner – the kind of recognition this talent and art form deserves.We are delighted to invite you to attend our 2022 ACT Notable Awards on Friday 29 July at Canberra Contemporary Art Space (CCAS), 44 Queen Elizabeth Terrace, Parkes ACT from 5.30-7.30pm.This year sees ACT Writers host an entirely new awards format in a special initiative designed to celebrate what our writers have overcome in during 2020 and 2021, and to showcase some of the brilliant works that have come from authors of the ACT and its surrounds in that time.The ACT Notable Awards will recognise books published by ACT-region authors in 2020 and 2021 in the categories of fiction, nonfiction, poetry and children’s books. This will be an event for celebration and a wonderful opportunity to connect and network with our industry.We look forward to celebrating with you in July!Accessibly and Inclusivity:ACT Writers strives to ensure that it is a safe and accessible place for everyone. Canberra Contemporary Art Space has wheelchair access and an accessible toilet. On the night we request everyone who is able to wear a mask to please do so.
