SFSNAD is a non-profit organization dedicated to the education and preservation of hand embroidery and needlework objects.We do this by offering high quality, educational and exhibition opportunities that honor imagination and creativity, with the goal of advancing the knowledge and practice of needlework and textile arts from around the world.We provide excellence in craft education from beginner to professional levels, taught by knowledgeable educators with diverse cultural and technical perspectives. We engage intergenerational communities who exchange slow craft traditions in a collaborative learning environment. We offer unique exhibition opportunities for both emerging and established artists in our two onsite Galleries, the Hanging Thread Gallery and the Corridor Gallery.

Login information will be emailed to you prior to the start of class.Class length: 3 hoursSkill level: Great for beginners or anyone wishing to brush up on their embroidery skillsClass Description: Learn the basics of goldwork (sometimes known as metalwork) in just three hours! In this technique, metal threads are most frequently laid or couched down with a second finer thread, resulting in sculptural, elegant forms. In this class, you’ll learn about padding, couching, and chipwork, and leave with a sense of the basics, as well as your own goldwork piece!Supplies: All materials will be mailed to you prior to the start of class. You will need to supply a pair of scissors.Try out different embroidery techniques in our Technique Taster Series! Each three hour class covers a different technique: crewelwork, needlepainting, goldwork, stumpwork, blackwork, whitework, needlepoint, and appliqué. You will have a choice of two different designs within each technique. This class is a great follow up to our Bite-size Embroidery for Beginners.Class Minimum: 3 students About the Educator: Tiffany is a graphic designer, embroidery designer and instructor. Prior to joining SFSNAD, Tiffany has been working as a freelance graphic designer for various design firms and corporations, from Chronicle Books to Banana Republic. Tiffany received her BFA degree in Graphic Design in Art Center College of Design in Pasadena in 2014. In 2019, Tiffany took classes in SFSNAD, including the CSP Program in Metalwork, and she does graphic design, and instructs while training to become an embroidery artist.

Registration for this class closes 2 weeks prior to the start date in order to allow for the shipment of kits for domestic shipping and 4 weeks prior for international shipping. If you would like to inquire about the possibility of late registration, please contact info@sfsnad.org. Late registration will be accommodated when possible with an additional expedited shipping fee.Cancellation policy: SNAD will refund tuition less a $25 processing fee up to 3 days (72 hours) prior to class start time. No refunds for cancellations with less than 3 days notification before class start time.
