Our program,Kahwá:tsire,joins EarlyON playgroups to provide Indigenous langues and cultural teachings with stories, songs, crafts, games, special guests, and more!We provide families with a friendly, safe environment that nurtures and strengthens awarenss as well as promotes and celebrates Idnigenous language and cultures.We visit groups in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington, Hastings & Prince Edward counties.The Kenyen'kéha (Mohawk) word that we have chosen to represent ourselves,Kahwá:tsire,means family. Traditionally Indigenous children would be collectively rasied by the extended family, and it is this aspect where we draw our inspiration and approach to learning. Think of the spaces which our programming and workers occupy as a house with aunties and cousins to play with and learn from. Looking in the Garden Outdoor Program! Learn Ojibwe language while exploring the garden together

We are very excited to have Maureen Buchanan from Kingston Indigenous Languages Nest co-hosting this event with us! This event will take place at the Indigenous Food Sovereignty Garden, 1467 Highway 15, Kingston, Ontario.We will observe the growing vegetables in the garden, harvest, look for bugs, practice saying bird names in Ojibwe, learn weather terms, and so much more!We will have a circle, smudge, and sing songs. Families may choose to start by exploring the garden, and will have an opportunity to harvest vegetables together to take home. This program is geared for families with children aged 0-6 years old, though older siblings are welcome. When registering, please select a ticket for EACH person attending with you. Please bring snacks &amp; drinks for your children, and a blanket to sit on. There is limited natural shade at the garden, families are urged to wear hats and sunscreen. As with our other outdoor programs, so much happens organically. This is just a brief outline of what to expect during the morning. We know there will be much more learning fun taking place! Spaces are limited. If you'd like to join us, be sure to register to save your spot!
