Damien McDuffie’s 'AR Museum for the People' is a mobile augmented reality walking tour highlighting the narrative history of the Black Panther Party through mural art located both inside Festival partner Oakstop’s storefront at 17th and Broadway and at Black Panther monuments around the Downtown Oakland corridor. Use the Black Terminus AR app (<a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.BlackTerminus.AR" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">click here to download</a>) to explore!Damien McDuffie has worked as a freelance journalist, has run brand strategy for the culture collective Wine &amp; Bowties, and has facilitated the preservation of historical archives for the Huey P. Newton Foundation about the Black Panthers. McDuffie is now working on a more innovative way to document culture and history: augmented reality. In 2021, McDuffie and fellow artists unveiled the largest augmented reality mural on the west coast at 7th Street and Washington, across the street from the Oakland Police Department. The 30-foot wall-to-wall mural is the work of artists Timothy B., Kiss My Black Arts, and Mali Byers honoring Bobby Seale and Huey P. A note on Festival reservations: Do not be discouraged if you see “sold out” events. Many Eventbrite users do not show up. And there are multiple Festival exhibitions on other nights.We cannot guarantee admittance to all exhibits, but we do want you to experience the first year of OFIA! Immersive Arts Alliance staff are instructed to let people in to all shows at any time, as long as we have room, maintaining safe levels of occupancy.Covid Policy:Advisories from the Governor’s office here in California are guiding us. Audience members must be fully vaccinated and boosted for admittance. We will check proof of vaccination and we will diligently adhere to what mask protocols may be in place at the time of these July exhibits. We encourage masking. We are capping the number of guests admitted to each venue well below capacity.
