Social Media Club Los Angeles

Social Media professionals across the US and beyond are coming together to talk about the state of the industry and do a little networking.

The news seems to cover social media in more and more drastic terms. Every day, it seems like there's a new reason to fear and loathe social media. As professional social media managers, that would make us...part of the problem. As we learn more about the negative impacts of social media on ourselves and others, it's worth taking a moment to look into this industry. That's why we've invited Professor David Carroll to help us dig in. Featured in The Great Hack (2019) on Netflix, his data quest has appeared in WIRED, The Guardian, Motherboard, The Boston Review, Slate, Mother Jones, and the international press more widely. In a conversation moderated by Lia Haberman, Adjunct Professor of Social Media and Influencer Marketing at UCLA, we'll ask Professor Carroll about where he stands on the issues of data and social media's future. Bring your questions, we want this to be a dynamic discussion.See you there!About David CarrollDavid Carroll is associate professor of media design and former Director of the MFA Design and Technology graduate program at the School of Art, Media and Technology at Parsons School of Design at The New School.
