We Are the Seeds of CultureTrust celebrates and educates about contemporary Indigenous arts and cultures, creates expansive and holistic opportunities for Indigenous artists, and provides positive and accurate representation of Indigenous peoples.We produce cultural programs and workshops that celebrate and support Indigenous arts, artists, and Native communities throughout North America. To date, we have produced over 160 public programs partnering with major organizations including Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia Art Museum, Montclair Art Museum, MoMA NYC, Penn Museum, Free Library, and multiple educational institutions.As a Native-led organization, our priority is to serve the Indigenous community in the Northeast and design programming that reconciles gaps in representation of East Coast Indigenous artists and makers, affecting change on a national and global scale. We continually challenge Indigenous erasure and invisibility and create safe spaces to exist as we are: beautiful, thriving peoples with important histories and even stronger futures.We Are the Seeds is a project of CultureTrust Greater Philadelphia, a charitable 501(c)(3) trust supporting diverse cultural practices in the Philadelphia region.

<a href="https://wearetheseeds.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">We Are the Seeds</a> is creating space for Native and Non-Native individuals to learn from Tchin, an Indigenous Elder musician and culture bearer. Participants will learn to make and play the Native courting flute which has unique historical and cultural significance. They will also have the opportunity to spend quality time with Tchin, learning and having discussions together for cross-cultural understanding. By the end of the three sessions, participants will acquire a solid understanding of this art form.First time beginners are welcome!For the people who have attended the first class, students will refine flutes, tune them, and work on playing skills. If time permits, students will have the opportunity to make the rare North American nose flute and the Hawaiian nose flute. Tchin will also demonstrate a didgeridoo.Sessions will be held on Sundays June 26, July 10, and July 17 from 12:00p – 4:00p, at Cherry Street Pier, Floor 2. Attending all three sessions is preferred but not required.Lead support provided by the William Penn Foundation. Additional support provided by Asian Arts Initiative.
