No more trying to be mindful alone.The Hive exists to develop creative, compassionate, and mindfully-engaged citizens in the Cincinnati region through small group classes and workshops. We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Your partnership helps make this nonprofit possible.(As a social enterprise, the Hive shares our story with photos of classes and events. Click here to join today.</a></p><h2>The Meandering Thread: A Contemplative Weaving Retreat  </h2><h3>Domains: Creative Expression, Healing Work</h3><p><em>“The storyteller is also a spinner or weaver and a story is a thread that meanders through our lives to connect us each to each and to the purpose and meaning that appear like roads we must travel.</em>” -Rebecca Solnit</p><p>Throughout history, weaving and the art of storytelling have often gone hand in hand. As groups would gather to spin, dye and weave yarn, personal and collective stories were shared and mythologies were spread. In this retreat we will explore the art of weaving as a way to tell our own personal and collective stories.  </p><p>Combining the creative process of tapestry weaving with writing prompts, narrative exploration  and group dialogue, we can cultivate a deeper understanding of the structures of our personal and collective narratives, how we make meaning and our place in this big world. No experience is necessary, just an open heart-mind.</p><p>In the spirit of community, we will have a potluck style lunch on Saturday.</p><h3>Our Schedule</h3><p><strong>Friday Evening, 9/23 from 6pm-9pm: </strong><em>Setting our Frame</em></p><p><strong>Saturday All Day, 9/24 from 9am-5pm: </strong> <em>Studio and Integration</em> </p><p>Rowe Schnure is a conceptual weaver, facilitator and community arts organizer living and working in Cincinnati, OH. They received their BFA in Textile Arts from Kent State University in 2016. Since then, they have taught weaving for a variety of groups, from children to seniors, and believe that weaving can be for everyone.</p><h3>Covid Considerations: Masks are currently optional at the Hive. Individuals may choose to wear a mask for personal protection, and as always, we ask anyone who is feeling sick or has a high temperature to not attend Hive gatherings until they are recovered.
