On your 2.5-hour afternoon retreat, you&#x27;ll be guided through a gentle, mindful experience in the woodland sanctuary at The Manitou Project. You&#x27;ll leave behind the stresses of the world and immerse yourself in nature. As we move through about a half mile of easy to moderate terrain, your certified guide will offer a series of sensory-opening “invitations” to help you find your own personal connection with the natural world. A combination of meditative and interactive experiences, you&#x27;ll have opportunities to sit quietly in contemplation, as well as share with others in the small group, all at a safe physical distance outdoors.Translated literally as &quot;forest bathing&quot; from &quot;shinrin-yoku,&quot; an established public health practice in Japan, it is a growing global wellness movement backed by more than 30 years of scientific research on the physical and psychological benefits of immersing yourself in nature. Come discover this natural remedy for depression, anxiety, stress and high blood pressure, and boost your immune system, creativity, focus and energy!Please bring water and insect repellent. For your safety and comfort, we recommend wearing sturdy, close-toed shoes (no open back or open toed sandals).After the guided forest immersion, you are welcome to stay and explore the 223 acre nature preserve at Manitou. The land includes hiking trails, two labyrinths, a trail developed by a Cree tribal elder to honor the Four Directions, and sites for energetic alignment.All participants will receive a voucher for 20% off any future forest immersion retreat.Space is limited. Advance registration is required.Minimum age: 15 years old.Location: The Manitou Project is located in the Williamsville borough of Newfane, Vermont. Your guide will email you directions in advance.COVID-19: According to the CDC, you are less likely to be exposed to COVID-19 during outdoor activities, even without the use of masks.
