Tampa Bay Women's Business Centre(WBC), is part of a national network of WBC's dedicated to helping  entrepreneurs to launch and grow their own businesses.Funded through the Federal office of Women's Business Ownership, our team of professionals help entrepreneurs with training and coaching in entrepreneurial readiness, business plan development, networking, strategic planning, finance preparedness, career transition and access to capital.From registering your business to hiring your first employee, we’re here to help you start and grow your local small business. Tampa Bay Women’s Business Centre is a WBC resource partner, funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the Small Business Administration (SBA). The Office of Women’s Business Ownership’s mission is to establish and oversee a network of Women’s Business Centers (WBCs) throughout the United States and its territories. Through the management and technical assistance provided by the WBCs, entrepreneurs – especially women who are economically or socially disadvantaged – are offered comprehensive training and counseling on a vast array of topics to help clients start and grow their own businesses.It is currently the only WBC funded in part through a Cooperative Agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) on the West Coast of Florida serving the needs of start-ups and existing owned businesses in our area. How to Best Finance Your Business During Economic Challenges

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) works with multiple banks to offer small business loans. A portion of the loan is guaranteed by the credit and full faith of the government of the United States. This program is designed to decrease the risk to lending institutions, these loans allow business owners who might not otherwise be qualified to receive debt financing.Presenters:C.J. C.J. Castro is the Senior Area Manager for the SBA Tampa Area. With over 33 years of commercial banking experience, C.J. is an accomplished financial management services professional with results-based performance. C.J. arrived at the SBA in 2015, occupying various positions with the Office of Capital Access in the Kentucky and California Loan Guaranty Processing Centers. Previously, he served at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as resolution and receivership specialist, facilitating the sale and transition of numerous portfolios of financial institutions and their real estate assets. Before joining the federal government, C.J. worked in the commercial banking industry, where he held such positions as Senior Credit Policy Officer, Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending and Business Banking divisions.

Debra Salas is the SVP SBA Loan Administration Director for LMCU. She oversees the SBA Administrative Operations which includes closing, compliance as well as community engagement. Prior, Debra worked for the U.S. Small Business Administration in the Office of Credit Risk Management, as an Approver for the Restaurant Revitalization Fund and as the Lead Lender Relations Specialist, Brand Manager &amp; Youth Entrepreneurship Financial Literacy Liason for the South FL District Office. Formerly, she worked as VP, Director of Small Business Lending for Neighborhood Lending Partners (NLP), a non-profit CDFI within the state of Florida. Prior to joining NLP, she worked in the non-profit field and academia, as well as owned and operated a small, alternative lending mortgage brokerage business in Miami that served customers who did not typically qualify for traditional financing. In 2017, Debra was awarded the SBA Financial Advocate of the Year for the state of Florida, and for the South Florida District. Debra has been actively involved within the community, serving on the Miami-Dade Bridge Loan Committee after Hurricane Irma, Beacon Council’s Small Business Committee, Goldman Sach’s 10,000 Small Businesses, the SBA’s Emerging Leader Program and its Boots to Business, FLAGGL’s Small Business Lender’s Forum and the SBDC’s Women in Business Program. In 2019, Debra was invited to speak to a bi-partisan Congressional Small Business Committee in D.C. about the SBA’s Community Advantage Program. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Hunter College and her Master’s degree from New York University.
