Two events covering the beginnings and evolutions of Japanese whisky through the centuries.

Japanese whisky doesn&#x27;t begin in 1923 - it&#x27;s much, much older than that. Join me and walk through the beginnings of Japan&#x27;s distilling history, from koji-fermented rice whiskies in the south to Johichi Takamine&#x27;s US experiments and back to Japan with Masataka Taketsuru and Shinjiro Torii in the 1920s. We&#x27;ll taste through what koji fermentation is, the inspirations from American and Scotch whiskies, where Japanese whisky follow those traditions, and where it diverges. This tasting will include: <ul><li>Takamine 8 Year Old Koji-Fermented Whiskey</li><li>Nikka All Malt (1980s)</li><li>Nikka Taketsuru</li><li>Shunshu Mars Original Bottling (1970s)</li><li>Hibiki Japanese Harmony</li><li>Nikka Days</li><li>Fukano Vault #1 Reserve</li><li>Nikka Whisky from the Barrel</li></ul>Cost includes all materials and shipping.
