An Homage to Henri Matisse: Collage Workshop with Joyce Elias

A not-for-profit visual arts organization since 1960, The Art Center Highland Park (TAC) provides a visual arts education to Highland Park and its surrounding communities, assuring access to the arts for all ages and cultural interests. This vigorous community-centered organization inspires everyone from tots through seniors to achieve and transform their world through more than 400 art classes offered annually in photography, oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, pastel, mixed media painting, ceramics, jewelry making, metalsmithing, digital arts, fiber art, mosaics, assemblage and more. TAC also brings national and regional art of established and emerging artists to our galleries through 20 exhibits of contemporary art each year to the surrounding community and Chicagoland area.TAC MissionThe Art Center Highland Park (TAC) is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to education in the contemporary visual arts through classes, outreach programs, gallery exhibitions and events. Join us for workshops with guest artists! These special events cover an array of mediums and materials.

Late in his life, Henri Matisse created a colorful series of paper collages. He said that he said he was, “painting with scissors”.In this workshop, students will experiment with color, play with a variety of paper, and explore differen adhesives to discover their favorite. Students can expect to create a collage or two to take home!SuppliesAll materials will be provided by The Art Center Highland ParkJoyce Elias is a multi-media artist. Her love of color is the common thread. Most recently, she has been creating a series of bold and bright paper collages. She will be exhibiting in the <a href="https://theartcenterhp.org/exhibitionsh/up-next/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">famil-E</a> exhibition, along with Joshua Elias and Sheila Elias, for the first time on JUNE 17-JULY 30 at the Art Center Highland Park.All students must be vaccinated and wear masks throughout their visit to The Art Center.
