ValleyRain International, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit cultural organization, was founded in March 2015 in the San Francisco Bay Area.We were founded with the mission of building a bridge between Aisa and North America cultures.To date, we have hosted upwards of 500 cultural events in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas，Beijing, and Shanghai, among other cities. At these events, we gather leading voices in the field to engage in dialogue and share knowledge.谷雨书苑2015年创立于旧金山湾区，致力于促进中美文化交流。迄今为止, 谷雨在旧金山湾区，洛杉矶，北京，上海等地举办了超过500场的线下文化交流分享活动。邀请为谷雨做过分享的嘉宾包括，知名导演贾樟柯，“最牛历史老师”袁腾飞，知名学者秦晖，北京四中国际教育创始人石国鹏，奇葩说冠军邱晨，詹青云，知名辩手艾力，等。谷雨书苑接下来还会邀请更多文化圈的名人大咖，知名学者和大家见面，敬请期待。

<h2>活动简介</h2>本期谷雨书苑联合理想折射推出哲学主题活动。无论这个世界怎么变化，哲学从不退场。哲学到底扮演着什么样的角色？牟教授总结为四点：终极问题的追索者(ultimate/global concern pursuer), 不断挑战质疑的牛氓(pushing-forward gadfly)，思想遗珠的收养抚育者(intellectual stepmother), 和思想论域的清道夫(thought janitor)。哲学思想理论也从来都是百花齐放的。哲学研究又是建立在怎样一种共识性的框架上以何种方法进行的？牟教授用一座房子的比喻概括了哲学方法论(methodology)的三个维度：视角 (perspective), 工具(instrument), 和指导原则(guiding principle)。牟教授人生的精彩程度也不亚于这些精妙的理论。从数学专业转为哲学专业，从中国社科院哲学所学者转辗美国攻读哲学博士，从哲学所辞职在美国开始教授生涯，他的人生如何经历了这三次转折？在美国教授语言哲学，致力于跨传统和比较哲学研究，一位华人哲学家的身份如何在国际的舞台贡献智识和担当？<h2>简介</h2>牟博 (MOU, Bo)，1982年获数学专业理学士学位后，于1987年获中国社会科学院研究生院哲学专业硕士学位；在中国社会科学院哲学研究所工作两年后，于1989年赴美国罗切斯特大学哲学系攻读哲学专业博士学位，1997年获博士学位。现为美国加州圣何塞州立大学哲学系终身教授(<a href="https://www.sjsu.edu/faculty/bmou/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">bio page</a>)。英文国际哲学杂志《比较哲学》（Comparative Philosophy）主编 。国际中西哲学比较研究学会（ISCWP） 首任会长（2002-2005）。比较哲学暨世界哲学国际学会（CPWP）会长（2021-2024）。专业领域包括：语言哲学，逻辑哲学，形而上学，中国哲学，比较哲学，哲学方法论。研究专著(英文)包括：《实质性视角取向论》(Substantive Perspectivism, 2009), 《中国哲学对语义真理问题的探究：统一多元论》(Semantic-Truth Approaches in Chinese Philosophy: A Unifying Pluralist Account, 2018), 《跨传统哲学交锋-交融：一个建设性交锋-交融理论》(Cross-Tradition Engagement in Philosophy: A Constructive-Engagement Account, 2020), 《跨传统交锋-交融与逻辑定律：从传统中国哲学到现代逻辑论同一与指称》(Cross-Tradition Engagement and the Laws of Logic: Identity and Reference from Classical Chinese Philosophy to Modern Logic, forthcoming in 2024).<h2>活动时间和地址</h2>2023年7月9日，周日 2:15- 4:15 pm (美西时间)参与方式 (线下)：硅谷亚洲艺术中心Silicon Valley Asian Art Center3777 Stevens Creek Blvd #400M, Santa Clara, CA 95051本次活动将会录像，编辑上传至<a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzuQbOXWdQZfdMLfU-w1jvg" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">谷雨YouTube官方频道</a>，敬请关注.
