Join us for our summer meeting when we will discuss the ways to control Japanese stiltgrass on your property. We will share the latest research and control updates along with tried and true methods. Jake Hughes is a Biologist (Invasive Plants and Restoration) for Shenandoah National Park where he manages the park's invasive plant management program. His primary duties include supervising seasonal weed crews and volunteers and managing a fledgling native plant propagation and restoration program. Previously, Jake worked in vegetation management for the National Park Service at Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC and in horticulture at the National Arboretum. 
Twenty years ago, concerned about the link between widespread degraded habitat and declining bird populations, Jim Hurley began working on introduced plant invasions in natural areas, first with private properties and public parks in Northern Virginia, and since 2013 on his 156-acre property on the lower slopes of the main Blue Ridge in Greene County. Jim is a master naturalist, tree steward, and a board member for the Virginia Native Plant Society and Blue Ridge PRISM.
