Housed in a former Gilded Age mansion surrounded by Italian-style gardens, Johns Hopkins University's Evergreen Museum & Library is at once an intimate collection of fine and decorative arts, rare books, and manuscripts assembled by two generations of Baltimore's philanthropic Garrett family, and a vibrant, inspirational venue for contemporary artists. The collections of Evergreen afford a unique perspective regarding the evolution of American collecting taste and connoisseurship, from the country’s post-Civil War industrial revolution to the modern jet age.

Sketching at Evergreen

Evergreen Museum & Library hosts periodic 90-minute sketching sessions in various spaces throughout the museum. Each session highlights a different room, with a docent on hand to answer queries about the collections, the house, and its former inhabitants.

Calling all budding artists. Evergreen Museum &amp; Library is now offering sketching sessions throughout the museum. The session is for 90 minutes and focuses on a single room (check different dates for new room offerings). A docent will be on hand to answer any questions about the objects on display as you find a point of inspiration. In order to protect our collection, we ask that only pencils or colored pencils be used when sketching inside the house. **Any type of water pens are not allowed.Supplies are not provided with purchase of ticket.VISITOR INFORMATION<ul><li>masks are now optional</li></ul><ul><li>Due to the historical nature of the building, accessibility is limited, and some parts of the museum can only be reached via stairs. </li></ul><ul><li>Stools are available for the duration of the session.</li></ul><ul><li>Free self-guided tours of the gardens and grounds are included in admission. Full guided house tour is not included in admission to sketching session.</li></ul><ul><li>Free parking is available</li></ul>
