Diablo Ballet presents Dance Laboratory, First Edition

Diablo Balletis an award-winning internationally recognized professional performing dance company committed to enriching, inspiring, and educating children and adults through the art of dance. Presenting acclaimed classical and contemporary ballets, the company is committed to exposing youth to the arts through its renowned PEEK Outreach Programs which have reached over 68,000 underserved school children in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties since 1995. In addition, Diablo Ballet has served hundreds of at-risk teenage girls incarcerated within the Juvenile Justice system since 2015. In 2019, Diablo Ballet opened the first Ballet School in Contra Costa County run by a professional ballet company.

Diablo Ballet presents the First Edition of Dance Laboratory on June 5th at 2pm and 4 pm.

Diablo Ballet School

Founded in 2022 by Felipe Leon, Dance Laboratory is a residency program that offers four local San Francisco and Bay Area choreographers to have an unconstrained space to dream, develop and express an innovative new work featuring the dancers of the Diablo Ballet. This platform will offer new and experienced choreographers the opportunity to explore their creativity, gain experience and reach their full potential as choreographers and artists. One of the four choreographers will have the opportunity to be selected by the audience to be featured in the 2022/2023 Diablo Ballet season, which will be performed at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, Ca. For more information: Our First Edition Performance will be on Sunday, June 5 at 2 pm and 4 pm and will feature new works by: Marika Brussel, Amanda Farris, Nol Simonse and Milissa Payne Bradley. Each performance will be limited to 40 guests. All performers and guests will be required to wear a mask at all times while on the property. Guests will need to provide proof of covid vaccination or a negative covid PCR test taken within 72 hours at the door.Inclusion and diversity are the core principles that drive Dance Laboratory. As such, a percentage of the profit from Dance Laboratory’s show will go toward The LGBT Asylum Project, the only San Francisco nonprofit organization exclusively dedicated to providing accessible legal representation for LGBT asylum seekers who are fleeing persecution due to their sexual orientation, gender identity and/or HIV status.
