ARTPROP by evan ray suzuki is a butoh-ish dance work that reflects on current cultural observations around the performance of detachment in the face of entropic surroundings. The piece draws inspiration from ig photo dumps, the "vibe shift," and that video of Lady Gaga outside Langham Hotel, while navigating concepts of viscosity, pixelation, and evacuation of meaning. New Work by Anna Hull: In the continuation of this solo score, Anna explores structure, limits, breaking down, pushing through, self generated power and softening into desire. She meditates and moves through the layers of her space and body. She is determined to overcome uneasiness and find an equal amount of strength and softness. All movement is inspired by and created to music by Shara Lunon. The Nephilim by Jace Weyant: is a dance piece which looks to hyper-realize personhood into figures of pure representation. Through a rigorous attention to the ways in which quality of movement produces mood, the dancers are transformed into icons. The title is a reference to The Book of Enoch, a piece of early Christian scripture, where bastard children of angels and humans, named Nephilim, wreak havoc upon the earth.evan ray suzuki is a choreographer, designer, and performance artist of Japanese descent originally from Whidbey Island, WA, now based in Brooklyn, NY. evan creates new works across dance, theatre, visual media, and film/video. evan also creates as part of NYC-based performance group gorno &amp; suzuki. Current research interests include the sociocultural influence of new media, the evolution of memes and the image-text relationship, and the reflections of the “softboi” in contemporary masculinity. evan’s original works and collaborations have been presented at JACK, La MaMa, Abrons Arts Center, The Tank, Triskelion Arts, Movement Research, Arts on Site, Amanda+James, and more. evan holds a BA from Sarah Lawrence College, with concentrations in Dance, Theatre, Literature, and Cultural Studies.Anna Hull is a New York City based dance and movement artist. She graduated as a Bella Lewitsky award winner from Idyllwild Arts Academy in 2014, and received her BFA in dance from Cornish College of the Arts in 2017. Anna has trained with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, The American Dance Festival, Ate9 Dance Company, and at the Gaga Intensive in Tel Aviv, Israel. She has performed works by Danielle Agami, LeeSaar, Kyle Abraham, Alex Ketley, and Deborah Wolf. In 2017, under the direction of Amanda Hameline, she began collaborating and performing with the production company, Amanda + James, on the full-length electronic dance opera, ‘Lazer Eyes’. Today, Anna continues her work as a dance artist for Amanda + James, and in addition she enjoys dancing in various freelance projects and creating her own movement based studies.Jace Weyant is a multidisciplinary artist from North Carolina. She was accepted into the high school dance program at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts as a freshman and studied ballet and contemporary dance. Jace was selected as a 2018 Youngarts Finalist in choreography and went on to become a Presidential Scholar in the Arts that same year. Jace is currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at Sarah Lawrence College where she studies Dance and Computer Science among other things. In recent years she has accepted a research residency with Impulstanz in Vienna, Austria, worked as a dancer and collaborator for Amanda Hameline, and as a software designer for Liminal Collective. In 2021, Jace founded an arts collective, Ames Productions, through which she has produced her first feature film, The Ames House.
