At this educational event, Fair Districts PA speaker Anna Fisher will explain political redistricting and an initiative to make it more fair ... no matter which political party is in power.

SPEAKER BIO - Anna Fisher is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Carnegie Mellon University. She was born in Ukraine, raised in Russia, and came to the United States in 1999 to study at the Ohio State University. She became a U.S. citizen in 2011. At Carnegie Mellon University, she teaches research methods in psychology, and conducts research on cognitive development in early childhood. She has published over 30 journal articles and 4 book chapters. Over the past 10 years, her research has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, the Institute of Education Sciences, and McDonnell Foundation.
After the 2016 elections, Anna was left feeling she was not represented by either the executive or legislative branch of government at the national level. After taking part in the Women's March on DC on January 21, 2017, she felt hopeful and determined to "think globally and act locally." Upon reading and reflection, she came to believe that partisan gerrymandering is one of the chief causes of extreme polarization, gridlock, and toxic political climate in the country. Anna  began volunteering with FDPA in February 2017. 
She lives with her two daughters and husband in the Squirrel Hill area of Pittsburgh.

Parking is available in the Boys & Girls Club lot next to the church. Parking is also available on most of the side streets in the area.
