"Hello My Name Is ___": General Admission

TED is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.TEDxUCIrvine is an event curated and executed by passionate UC Irvine students, founded on the belief that sharing the knowledge on campus can inspire action throughout the community. Each year, TEDxUCIrvine gives our campus the opportunity to showcase our talents, achievements and ideas on TED’s worldwide platform.

UC Irvine Cross Cultural Center

Each year, our event has a theme curated by the TEDxUCIrvine team. This year&#x27;s theme is: &quot;Hello My Name Is _____&quot;&quot;Hello My Name Is _____&quot; references a common greeting we use when introducing others. At first glance, our eyes are fixated upon the blank link, wondering how we earned our name. It raises numerous questions: Who are we? How do we identify ourselves? What are the different components that make up this identity? This journey of understanding ourselves and establishing our self-identity are the primary elements of the &quot;Hello My Name Is _____&quot; theme.
