Monarch Presents: Adam Torres w/ Saloli and Gabriel Seaver

Alberta Abbey aims to nurture the creative, visual and performing arts in N/NE Portland by amplifying opportunities for Black and underrepresented communities. The Abbey serves this mission by providing affordable education, gallery, studio, and performance spaces, and showcasing events for local groups of all ages.

<h3>ADAM TORRES</h3>Adam Torres released both 'Pearls to Swine' &amp; 'I Came to Sing the Song' on Fat Possum Records in 2016 &amp; 2017 respectively, from his then-home of Austin, Texas. After three years of touring far and wide, he is now living and writing songs in his new home of Portland, Oregon.

<h3>SALOLI</h3>Mary Sutton performs as Saloli and composes music for keyboard instruments. She aims to create sonic landscapes that entrance and enthrall the listener into sweetly vulnerable introspection. Saloli's debut album of synthesizer compositions, The Deep End, was released through Kranky in 2018. Her next album, The Island: Music for Piano Vol. I, will be self-released as a limited edition cassette December 21, 2021."The title The Island comes out of an image that popped in my mind while playing piano… of an island where there is nothing to do but play music for the birds, plants, wildlife and surrounding waters. It’s a tranquil and beautiful place, but lonesome with a vastness that stretches toward the horizon.Composed and recorded on a gorgeous 1900 Chickering piano with a unique, warm, rich tone and hauntingly long decay, this music is an exploration of emotional, psychic and physical resonance."

<h3>GABRIEL SEAVER</h3>Gabriel Seaver’s guitar playing is informed by the biocosmos, water, sitting, walking, dancing, afro/latin rhythms, friends, minimalism, improvisation, traveling, loving and listening.
