Women in Sustainability (WIS) is a network of professional women working to advance social and environmental sustainability while fostering collaboration and inclusivity.We aim to share high quality resources, foster collaboration and close the gap of what is possible through sharing ideas, best practices, accomplishments, challenges and tools for advancing the sustainability agenda.

This interactive program will include presentations and group discussions highlighting the unique obstacles, opportunities and leadership necessary to help us all to move holistic sustainability and equity forward during the complex times we live in (i.e. ecological disasters/climate change, global pandemic, #blacklivesmatters, #metoo, and economic recession).Together we can help to co-create a more #well and #equitable workplace culture. By focusing on female leadership, we hope all attendees will be empowered to be the change they want to see in the world!"The <a href="https://sdgs.un.org/goals" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs</a>) will not be achieved without <a href="https://unsdn.org/2017/07/13/intersectionality-and-working-together-to-achieve-the-sdgs/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">collaboration between all, and an intersectional approach that accounts for complex identities, communities and experiences.</a>" - UNITED NATIONS SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT NETWORK

Statement of Inclusion: We believe an inclusive and diverse environment is crucial to the advancement of sustainability and equity. Therefore ,this event is open to all who identify with the language of women (cisgender women, trans women, womxn, black and indigenous women of color, non-binary and gender nonconforming individuals). All are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate in this event. We unequivocally recognize and welcome trans women as women. We commit to ongoing anti-racism learning and practice. And we expect the same of all women who choose to participate in our 2022 International Women's Day programming. Health and Safety:We request that in person attendees be fully vaccinated and boosted or have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours before attending the program. As the workforce strives to recover, women continue to be disproportionately impacted. Join us as we discuss the pandemic&#x27;s impact on working women and how we are recovering from a global and local perspective. In addition we will explore gender diversity in the clean energy sector and how renewable energy could empower women from rural communities, cities, and developing countries.10:30 – 10:55 Conversation Circles10:55 – 11:05 Break11:05 – 11:25 Session 2: Women Leadership in Sustainability: How can women make change happen while empowering other women to be part of the solution? We&#x27;ll be highlighting three local stories that will broaden your thinking about all the ways you can be an ally and a collaborator in our efforts for a more sustainable future. 11:25 – 11:50 Conversation Circles11:50 – 12:00 Wrap up12:00 Adjourn While our formal event will conclude at noon, we invite our attendees to consider supporting the local establishments by continuing their conversations over lunch or coffee at one of the nearby restaurants.

We&#x27;re bringing you three local stories that will broaden your thinking about all the ways you can be an ally and a collaborator in our efforts for a more sustainable future. <ul><li>Julia Pooler, Leader--Girl Scout Troops #1477 &amp; #1952, Badgerland Council, will speak about how she empowered her Girl Scouts to take on the issue of embodied carbon</li><li>Jacqueline Freidel, Founder, Women in Energy (and Consultant at VEIC), will talk about Women in Energy, the networking group she established to support women in a male-dominated industry.</li><li>Cristina Carvajal, Executive Director of Wisconsin EcoLatinos, will discuss the importance of including minority women in Sustainability and her experience with the Latino Workforce’s Leadership and Sustainability program.</li></ul>

<h3>Women in Sustainability: </h3>Women in Sustainability (WIS) grew out of a desire from the Women on the 2015 Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council Advisory Board for a place to connect and to share our challenges and successes with other women in the field. WIS is currently housed under the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council.Today, Women in Sustainability (WIS) is a network of professional women working to advance social and environmental sustainability while fostering collaboration and inclusivity in Wisconsin.
