Brave Women’s Community Center is a trauma-informed nonprofit in Denver dedicated to helping women and girls heal from abuse, rediscover their voice, and reconnect with their sense of power and purpose.We offer creative, community-centered programs like therapeutic improv, storytelling circles, survivor-led classes, youth empowerment workshops, and live listening events where survivors’ voices are honored and witnessed. At BWCC, we believe healing happens in connection — not in isolation. Through expressive arts, movement, and truth-telling, we create brave spaces where survivors become leaders, pain becomes purpose, and every woman is reminded: you were never broken — only silenced. And now, you get to speak.We welcome women and adolescent girls from all walks of life, especially those impacted by emotional, psychological, or systemic abuse. FIRST CLASS FREEBrave Hearts Speak is a biweekly women’s group that will provide the performance training necessary to utilize your voice, speak with confidence, and tell the good, the bad, and the ugly stories of your life. I know what you’re thinking...”I don’t have any stories” ‘I’m not interesting enough” ”Why would I want to do that?!?!” I GET IT! So what would you gain from taking the risk of joining other women in this adventure? Each session you will come as you are to a group that does not focus on product but process. The process of opening your body and mind to the possibility that you in fact DO have something to say and IT MATTERS! You will be practicing the art of speaking from your heart. You’ll be asked to have fun and be playful through improvisation, movement, actor training techniques, and other scary methods. Just kidding! Well not really… You may feel fear, it’s scary to risk exposing yourself to people. But it’s an opportunity to feel the fear and do it anyway. This is an opportunity to form a tribe of women who are all practicing bravery at the same time and who can nurture one another through that process. Lucia DiVieste Severtson is a licensed psychotherapist in private practice in Colorado as well as a dance/movement therapist and founder of Be Brave Psychothearty and Empowerment Coaching for Women LLC in Denver. Lucia was an aspiring actor before studying mental health counseling and dance/movement therapy at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. She has received professional actor training in New York, Toronto, and Tuscany, Italy. Lucia is passionate about helping women break through societial and family constructs so that they may transform into their most expanded versions of themselves.
