The mission of Mujeres de Maiz (women of the corn) is to bring together and empower diverse women and girls through the creation of community spaces that provide holistic wellness through education, art, programming, exhibition and publishing.

Join us for a 2 day workshop with Muralist Liliflor (Lilia Ramirez).

Learn about the process of mural making, give your input for the design of our new mural and participate in the healing practice of art!The mural will explore themes of nature and healing in relationship to mental health and well being. Participants will have an opportunity to learn the fundamental process of mural making, design input, and celebrate the unveiling of the mural with a La Cultura Cura Cart art and wellbeing workshop that will complement the mural celebration. The vision is to create a community space that inspires healing and mental wellness through the arts."We are so excited and grateful to Mujeres de Maiz (MDM) for bringing this vision to life, We Rise LA for funding this project, Erica Gutierrez the founder of Mercadito Monarca and to Arcade Lane for allowing us to create this space on the exterior of their building. Mercadito Monarca has been selected as a partner for the mural location and community engagement. This is monumental for us and we hope you will join us for this important event and contribution to our community wellness."Who can participate?Invitation is open to individuals and community organizations located in District 5 of Los Angeles County that are interested in creating meaningful connections with art and wellness. - Community organizations in Pasadena who service youth (between 14-24 years of age)- Youth of all backgrounds are highly encouraged to participate however no one will be turned away. What do you need?- Participants are required to attend only one day out of the 2 days listed. - Participants should be at least 14 years of age, no experience is required to attend. - Participants should have a pencil and paper for a creative exercise (no artistic experience required). - Youth under 18 need parent consent for media release form (photography and filming) and participation- Adults over 18 years of age agree to sign a media (photography and filming) release form. Where:Workshops will be held via zoom (only one is required to attend)Registration is required via Eventbrite.
